Inara Court Facade Option

Here is a facade that Phil Szostak, Davis Andrews and Shaan Hassan at Szostak Design recently completed.

Rendering of Inara Court Home

I’ve been working with Szostak Design on some new renderings of potential lot layouts and units on Inara  Court.  Here is a rendering of our roughly 1,800 square foot base model (2 bedrooms) with a one-car garage.  Its shown on Lot 1, which is located on the corner of Fidelity Street and Inara Court.  We’ll post some info about our different model types soon with floor plans and some preliminary options.  We will start marketing units in April, prior to our April 22nd open house.  Feel free to contact me if you have questions!

MAY Open House

We are rapidly approaching completion with a beehive of activity in the Poplar house almost every day.  Most of the work should be done before the April 8th tour and we will list the property for sale around the same time.   The Open House will now be on Saturday May 6th from 10am-2pm. I really encourage people who are interested in the Inara Court project to come take look , as well as potential buyers for 105 West Poplar Avenue.  Feel free to contact me if you have interest in any of our ongoing projects!

Modapalooza Tour 2017

We are honored to have the house on the April 8th Modapalooza Tour (http://www.ncmodernist.org/palooza17.htm)!  We are in very good company with other homes on the tour being designed by some of my favorite architects.  Szostak Design, who are collaborating on 105 West Poplar and the Inara Court project with me, In Situ Studio, Sophie Piesse and other great architects have houses on the tour.  Unfortunately the tour is sold out, but I highly recommend checking out upcoming tours and events at www.ncmodernist.org.  We are lucky to have such a thriving local organization dedicated to modernist design.

INARA Court: Application to rezone Cuts the Mustard

On June 28, 2016, the Town of Carrboro met for a Public Hearing on Conditional Rezoning for Inara Court at 102 and 104 Fidelity Street. The Town received the application to rezone 102 and 104 Fidelity Street to R-2-Conditional (R-2-CZ) for the construction of six single-family residential units. Prior to reaching a decision, the Board of Aldermen had to hold a public hearing to receive input on the rezoning request. The board voted in favor of the re-zoning.

Alderman, Bethany Chaney, thanked Paul for "...thinking creatively about how to use this piece of property and how to create the kind of mechanisms that we need to encourage diverse housing." She noted that small-scale home ownership projects or density-bonus opportunities don't encourage innovative development and affordability. She warned that Carrboro should be concerned about what could potentially be built by right in an area like this (i.e. gigantic houses, super higher-density). She voiced her appreciation for Paul setting a standard of thinking about how to use the property and for reaching out to the surrounding neighborhood to gather input in order to offer "...a solution that, in fact, doesn't maximize this piece of property in the way [he] could, but rather tries to strike a balance between multiple objectives..."
